Q

What do you attribute your success to?

Firstly, to my mother who raised me on her own. She taught me how to be assertive and to take pride in everything I do, no matter how small or big. Secondly, to the amazingly successful women I have come across in my career who mentored me and took chances on me. Lastly, to hard work, continuing to learn as much as possible, and persistence. I feel successful when I am authentic, use my voice, my seat at the table, and my influence to make work better for today’s workforce and for those coming behind me.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don't let perfection get in the way of great / less is more.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don’t wait to feel ‘ready.’ Lead anyway and always. Stay curious, and define success on your terms.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

HR is considered a non-revenue generating function, so it is often the last role to fill or one of the earliest to lose out on funding. What I hope is that, by the value I and my fellow HR practitioners demonstrate, business leaders can see how much HR can help drive the business forward through enabling those who are revenue generating.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity - doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. Willingness to learn from others and see other perspectives.
